You take on the role of Guy Montag, former fireman (i.e. burner of books), who has seen the error of his ways and now seeks contact with an underground resistance fighting to keep the books "alive".
The gameplay is centered around quotes from various famous works. You must use these to contact the resistance and progress further into the game.

Intrincate as it is, F451 never really gripped me. I find the gameplay tedious, with the trudging around Manhattan in search of code-phrases (passwords) to give to contacts and advance the plot, and the few genuine puzzles seem to be afterthoughts. There is much to admire in the atmosphere and tension created through description, timing and plot, but regrettably, playing it feels more like a technical exercise than like fun.
