It begins when you awake in a large brass bed in a castle somewhere in Transylvania. Who are you, what are you doing here and WHY did the postman deliver a bottle of blood?

Of all Scott's classic titles, I enjoy this the most, particularly because it requires some clever timing.
I was 10 years old, when I first played this, a bit too trickly for a 10 year old, but 30 years later (2014) I put this game to rest and finished it, for me The Count is the mother of all text adventures, and finally I can put this to rest forever!
Kind of an acquired taste. This one is finicky, depends on some random timings, and must be sequenced quite precisely, requiring several playthroughs to capture all the snags and necessary workarounds. Adams raised the difficulty by having a fixed time limit, with little wiggle room. The ambiance is spoiled by attempts at humour. Still an interesting exercise.
There is a port for the Commodore Plus4, from 2004. Plus4World download link: https://plus4world.powweb.com/software/The_Count
